This dish you can eat at any time of the day. And YES, quinoa with oats. Quinoa is not just for pilafs and salads. It can be combined very well with oats, which you will figure out when you make this.

The ingredients and measures are for 4 servings.

This is what you need:

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cup quinoa
  • 1/2 cup dried fruit (blueberries, goji berries, cranberries, barberries or raspberries)
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • Milk
  • 4 cups water
  • Pumpkin seeds/Chia seeds
  • Walnuts
  • 1/4 tsp Ground cardamom
  • 1/2 tsp Ground cinnamon

This is how you make it the Oats and Quinoa Porridge:

  • Add the following to a medium saucepan and bring it to boil: oats, quinoa, dried druit, raisins, ground cinnamon, ground cardamom, water.

Note: do not add fresh fruit to the pan as they will partly evaporate, become soft and spongy. If you want to use fresh fruit, add it later when serving the dish.

  • Turn off your heating source, cover the pan and let it sit overnight, or slowly reduce the heat while stirring until the oats and quinoa are tender (after approximately 20 minutes)
  • Before consuming, leave the pan covered and reheat it. Occasionally stir and add some water if necessary until it’s warm.
  • You can now add the milk, walnuts and seeds. Enjoy your Oats and Quinoa Porridge!]
